Welcome to the Aylesbury Cycling Club website
The club has been in existence for over 50 years & continues to be
the only cycling club in the Aylesbury Vale catering for regular road &
offroad club rides, starter groups, training sessions, racing, touring
etc.
Our regular group rides leave at 9.00a.m. every Saturday & Sunday from
the AquaVale
car park, Park Street, Aylesbury.
We also have a couple of midweek sessions, so please see below for details.
New to road cycling or returning after a break?

We introduced our Saturday 'slowest-cyclist' group rides in November 2008 for anyone
to join in. This has proved a great success & newcomers have told us how much they
enjoy them. Here's a couple of examples:
"Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the ride on Saturday....Nice social bunch
and lots of support when I struggled on a couple of hills...I'll definitely be back
for more!"
"Just wanted to say thanks for the fantastic ride today in excellent company. It
was just the incentive I needed to lose another stone! I thoroughly enjoyed myself
and hope to see you all again soon."
It's normally a route of about 35-40 miles starting at 9.00 a.m. from AquaVale (bike
park), Park Street, Aylesbury every Saturday & we can email you the anticipated
route a couple of days beforehand.
Already feeling capable of riding with a cycling 'club' group?
As you can see, we leave at 9.00 a.m. from the AquaVale car park, so please feel
free to join in.
Members sometimes have "other commitments" & choose to return earlier, so you may
not have to come back alone if you wish to do a shorter ride. "Mainstay Margaret"
is always there come rain or shine, so please feel free to come along & introduce
yourself.
Please note. Both the Saturday & Sunday 'club' group rides welcome cyclists riding
with us for the first time. However, from past experience we'd recommend that everyone,
other than those coming to us as a recent active member of another road cycling
club, should initially ride with the 'slowest-cyclist' group.
MTB Section
Meeting in Jansel Square car park in Bedgrove, where there's free parking
if anyone requires it, the group leaves at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday for a ride
of approximately 21/2 to 3 hours.
As a way of introduction, we're also giving new riders the chance to join in a 'slowest-cyclist'
style group ride on the first Wednesday of the month which will also include a pub
stop. During winter months this group follows nearby trails with an added dose of
excitement-riding offroad in the dark with lights!
All you need is an offroad bike in good working order and a decent front light.
Lights on your helmet are very useful but not essential & don't forget a rear light
as there'll be some riding on the road to & from the local offroad trails. Please
see our 'Contact us' page to get further details.
We are now running a Sunday MTB club ride FIRST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH, from our usual
AquaVale, 9.00 a.m. start point, for further information on the rides please contact
us through the 'Contact us' page.
Thursday Evening Sessions
Thursday evenings from mid-September to mid-April, we have turbo training sessions
at a local school hall concluding with stretching exercises. If you feel this is
another good reason to join the club, please complete & forward the downloadable
membership application form on the 'Contact us' page
of this website or contact the Club Secretary.
During summer months we meet at Stone pond, 7.00 p.m. prompt, to endure intervals
up a nearby hill or on a fast mile & a half section of quiet, flattish, good quality
road. Please see our 'Contact us' page to get further
details.
Club Ride Rota
The ACC committee have decided to scrap all ride leader rotas bar one. We will continue
to provide a "Route facilitator" for the Saturday slowest rider group. All other
groups will run on an ad hoc leader basis-which is what mostly happens anyway! I
will be doing a new Saturday rota shortly, but for the time being please follow
the existing one.
- * 0800 departure due to longer ride
- ** 0700 departure due to longer ride
